Monopoly: Building Community, One Roll at a Time

Step onto the vibrant streets of Ku-ring-gai with the Ku-ring-gai edition of Monopoly, a project that truly captured the spirit of our community.

Created in 2018, this exciting venture marked a milestone in our journey of giving back.

From the outset, our goal was clear: to infuse the essence of Ku-ring-gai into every aspect of the game. We kicked off the year with a Photo Competition, inviting local talents under 18 to showcase the beauty of our area. Kieran Payne’s breathtaking drone shot of Bobbin Head Marina soared above the rest, earning its place on the playing board.

The momentum continued to build as we approached the pre-sale launch in July 2018. With the official launch held at St Ives Shopping Village on 3 November, the community rallied around us. Local schools, markets, and online platforms buzzed with excitement, supported by press coverage and political endorsements.

Thanks to overwhelming support, all 2000 units of the Ku-ring-gai edition were sold by early 2019, raising over $84,000. Every cent of the profits went back into our community, benefitting local charitable organisations.

Our heartfelt thanks extend to our sponsors, whose unwavering support made this project possible. Ku-ring-gai Council, Burns & Burns Real Estate, Northside Dental and Implant Centre, Woolworths Gordon, St Ives Shopping Village, PW Lawyers, Peter Vickers Business Group, and Kipling’s Garage Bar, your presence on the board reflects your commitment to our community.

As a result, our main beneficiaries, Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney, St Lucy’s School, KYDS Youth Development Service, and Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women’s Shelter, each received significant donations.

Additionally, our Community Chest Grants Program ensured that ten more community organisations received vital support, spreading the impact even further.

The Ku-ring-gai edition of Monopoly stands as a testament to our community's unity,
creativity, and generosity. Together, we've not only created a game but also woven a
tapestry of memories and support for those who need it most.
